I think this is most stupidest thing ever. A time traveler talking on a cell phone in 1928... Who on earth could she be talking to with no satellite?

My response is that I was not aware that cell phone towers were already in place in 1928 and we were waiting for the technology to catch up.

I can't make out anything in the picture, I think I'm seeing a person in a hat, a masculine-looking hat, holding something to the side of their head, something very white. My vote is handkerchief.
Honestly, this picture isn't even newsworthy. This is even less concrete and intelligible than the rumored munchkin hanging himself in The Wizard of Oz.
If the Time Corps were extant, and could actually go back in time, if they have the intelligence to have that kind of technology, why would they still have what we could recognize as a cell phone? Also, wouldn't they be a bit smarter than to commit the faux pas of using an anachronism?
Oh, and way to go Time Corps, you went back to 1928 and didn't stop the Great Depression. Fail.:banghead:

Caymen, why would she need cell phone towers? That's basically assuming that she's from the year 2010--but what if she's from some future year? After all, if she's from a time when time travel technology is available, wouldn't it also be possible that in that time, cell phones are able to communicate without towers? Maybe they all communicate through satellites--and when they traveled back in time to 1928, they also put satellites up there which allow cell phone communication. After all, back then, if there had been a communication satellite in orbit, would anyone from 1928 have had any idea it was up there?

Local news ran a clip on this stating that some hearing aids in the 20's were the size of a small pocket radio... but then again, who was she talking to???
I saw the video on the news the other day and I question that if it was a hearing aide, why is it being used while just walking down the street?? I'm sure that battery technology at that time would be very limited and it would be foolish to waste the battery power when the hearing aide is not needed.
If she was a time traveler from the future, then the technology that got her to back to 1928 would allow also her to communicate back to the future. So the device may not have been a cell phone but some other communications device that can cross the time-space barriers without cell phone towers or satellites, etc.
I suspect that if she was a time traveler from the far distant future, it would probably envolve some kind of machine perhaps even a space craft that can orbit the Earth at such a speed that it becomes invisible because it is a a few seconds ahead or behind the actual time on Earth???
It probably has a much simpler exlaination but of course the Cell phone is so common now that it is the first thing that pops into our minds.

Good thing this image debuted now then, as in a few years no one will know what talking into a cell phone held at ear level is like. The bluetooth headset makes the action obsolete.
Speaking of which, if she were from the future, why would she not be using a bluetooth headset?

I don't think that the Bluetooth headsets/ear pieces are as big a fade as they were just a few years ago. Many people who used them a few years ago have stopped using them. I have one that I tried for about a month a few years ago and I never use it since.
My point was that we may think she is using a cell phone because we see so many people now walking around with a cell phones stuck in their ears. However, she may be talking on some kind of communications device that may be so far advanced from a cell phone that it can cross the demensions of time. After all. If someone had developed a time machine that got her back to 1928, they probably have a way to communicate with her that does not rely on cell phone towers and infastructure that did not exist in 1928.
Perhaps the time machine was a form of spacecraft from the future that was hovering above the earth. In 1928 who would have noticed a ship in a parked orbit several hundred or even thousands of miles in space? Perhaps she was calling to Scotty to Beam her up..:grin:
