Hello, I just purchased a set of used ST rims to replace the set I currently have. my questions are what size tire does the new rims use? They are a different style than my current set and didn't come with tire on them. I currently have the slanted 5 spoke or "tear drop" style rim that has 235/70R 16 tires and I purchased the straight 5 spoke rims. tire rack says the the ST came with either 235/70R 16 or 255/70R 16 tires, I just want to make sure I order the right size.

Secondly how is everyone cleaning their rims? I am thinking about getting one of those power ball cleaners that you put in your drill, but they look like they are for chrome rims. Does anyone know if they will work for these rims?

Thanks

My "tear drop" wheels came with 235/70R16's and my spoke type wheels were 255/70R16's. The wheels are the same size so go with whichever you like. Are you polishing the wheels or cleaning the brake crud off of them?

Rodger (Georgia) addressed this on the "TIRES" post from 10/6.

The gear ratio on the ST determines the OEM tire size. So, if you have a 3:73 rear end (like we do) you have the 235/70/16's; and if you have a 4:10 rear end you have the 255/70/16's.

1) As above, whatever size came on your truck, stick with it. This avoids speedo issues and gear ratios.

2) Just by some wheel cleaner(get the right kind) at the parts store. Spray, scrub and rinse.

3) The rim size(dia. and wdth) should be cast into the aluminum on the backside of the wheel. See if it matches your original set

4) Before you buy any tires, go to the link below and use thier tire calculator feature to see if you can get a bigger(wider) tire with the same rolling diameter so your speedo won't be off

Good luck, Bob
