Any ideas what would cause several tires to have seperated belts. I went to Walmart to have my tires rotated, and they told me they cant because of the belts. Said it could be caused by a suspension problem, but no specifics. About 30,000 miles on tires. Uniroyal liberators.

Thanks Victor

People that work at Wal-Mart are Wal-Martians.

Seperated belts are caused by faulty tires. I have never heard of it being caused by suspension problems.

Those tires are made by BF Goodrich for walmart and sold at walmart. They should warrantee them, but at 30k miles, I'd say you're done and might as well change them out.

Uniroyal is not made by BF Goodrich.

Michelin NA makes Uniroyal and BF Goodrich. Both those brands are names built by Michelin NA.

The tires were purchased at walmart. They said they will prorate them. Tring to get them to discount some larger tires instead of the 235"s. I want 31-10.50 r15's.

The tires say uniroyal on the new tires they have. They are the same model.

Thanks for the info. Victor

Separated belts and bulges can be caused by bad suspension- especially if it's happening in the front- this question was actually brought up at a hold em' game last week ;)

I have 2 friends that own tire shops and they're stict on warranty'ing the tires if they can prove bad shocks- the tire manufacturers even send out a like a short course and video of how a bad suspension causes tire separation and egged bulges. If I can get a copy I might be able to post it.

I've heard that directional treads will separate if they are broken in, then swapped left-to-right on the car. Most places will only rotate the tires front-to-back for that reason. I once had a tire come apart on me at highway speed because of this. That's how I learned about it.

Who rotated your tires last time, before this happened?

victorv, Since you bought them at Wal-Mart; do you have the warrenty papers that you should have got at the time of purchase? Since you have the same size tire that our '01 came with, I bet you have a 3:73 rear end and I wouldn't go much bigger (plus 1 upgrade) unless you get an SCT XCal 2. I went to a 245/70/16.
