Ok I have a 2003 Sport trac. It has 42,000 miles and I was getting new tires for Christmas from my parents. I didn't know if I should get the same ones, or get a different kind that might be better. I didn't know if anyone has tried anything else that doesn't cap in the tires. Because mine have capped but i think it is because the guy before me never aligned or had the tires rotated. But I have Uniroyals or Michelin now, i can't quite remember, and I think they are 17's, I was going to see also what the biggest size i could get with out a lift that would fit.

If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Avoid the Wrangler RT/S like the plague. I actually recommend anything but Goodyear even as far as driving without tires on your wheels.

I have BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's and I love them.

I love my Goodyear Wrangler HPs. My dad loves his Goodyear Eagle F1s. My mom will be getting Goodyear Radial LS soon because the sidewalls are cracking on her $300 a piece Hankooks. Same thing happened with the stock tires.

The Yokohama Geolander HT/S, has excellent ratings. We have them on my wifes SUV. I plan on putting them on my ST. There are a couple of members here using them and they have been very pleased, maybe they will chime in...

Thank you everyone for your input...it really gave me some good ideas about what to get...but i ended up gettign Firestone Destination A/T....so far they are really good even though i got them today....but yea thank you all....:D

Aren't those the tires that caused all the rollovers in Explorers a few years back?

edit: I found an answer (see link). I'm sure they've redesigned to correct those flaws.

Firestones suck.

I would have gone with BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A; BF Goodrich All-Terrain; Michelin CrossTerrain; or Michelin XLT. Revo's look decent, too.

Like I said, Firestones suck.

Sorry.

Well my girlfriend's sports trac is an 04 w/ 45k miles. Her stock goodyears are shot. The belts are misaligned causing a whole lot of tire noise. She thinks it started around the 25k-30k. we'll be replacing those soon as well.

They were Firestone Wilderness ATs, and most of the rollovers you read about were drivers traveling at speeds above the posted limit making aggressive maneuvers. Had them on my ST for the first 20k and had no problems before they were replaced voluntarily by Ford with Michelins.

Yea thats what my parents said it was too...Just wreckless drivers. But so far they are doing good. I have no problems with them. They drive so much better than my other ones. Its a smooth ride with a little hummm when your driving...which is good...they made my truck actually look bigger and more like a truck:rolleyes:
