I stopped by the Toyota Dealership yesterday for a look at the new Tacoma. Just for fun, I took it out for a test drive.

I wanted to sense that new "feel" before they become extinct. The salesman (wearing an Obama "change" lapel pin) sat in the passenger seat describing the truck and all its "wonderful" options. The seats were of particular interest.

He explained that the seats directed warm air to your butt in the winter and directed cool air to your butt in the summer heat.

Feeling like messing with his mind, I mentioned that this must be a Republican truck. Looking a bit angry, he asked why I thought it was a Republican truck. I explained that if it were a Democrat truck the seats would blow smoke up your butt year-round.

I had to walk back to the dealership. Damn guy had no sense of humor.

Get Out and vote November 2nd 2010.

I took advantage of early voting here last weekend, but I still think that is hillarious! :bwahaha::bwahaha::bwahaha::bwahaha::bwahaha::bwahaha:

I had a guy ask me for a couple gallons of gas at the gas station yesterday. I don't usually make assumptions about people, but we'll just say if I use statistical data backed by the last election, he is a registered democrat. I'd have a 98% chance of being correct.

I gave him $5 of gas so he could "get his mother to Grady" (Georgian's will know this hospital). He thanked me for falling into his scam and told me to have a blessed day. I really wanted to ask him to pay it forward by voting Republican on Tuesday, but I didn't.

I just did my good deed and know that it is up to him to use a gracious gift in an appropriate manner and God will judge both our actions based on our own intentions and merits. I hope his mother is alright.

Hugh,

I help a little differently. I never give anyone money. If he needed gas money, ho would be even more thrilled with gas.

When they ask for gas money, give them gas. Out of 50 people asking for gas money, only one actually looked me in the eye and said he would be so thankful for it.

That was the one that needed help. The others needed drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.

Agreed. Years ago, there was a person standing outside of the local grocery store asking for money for food. While shopping, I had a sub sandwich made for him. When I came out, I gave it to him and he thanked me.

A few minutes later, while driving out of the parking lot, I saw him throw the sandwich in the garbage can.

Additionally, on another occasion, I gave one dollar to a street person that was collecting for the homeless. They were everywhere with t-shirts and specially marked containers for this cause. Definitely a legit group. Well, one day I was sitting at a light and saw the vendor reach in and take money from the container, place it in his pocket and re-seal the container.

Since those instances, I no longer help in that way.

I did give him gas, not money.

I did help with Meals on Wheels my senior year of high school. Nothing has made me more angry with welfare than that day. I took a full Thanksgiving meal to a family in a housing project. In the driveway was a brand new Dodge Ram quad cab and a couple years old Camry. We took the food in and an extremely obese couple was sitting on their leather couch watching a large flat screen tv (2002 prices, mind you), a desktop pc on a new desk, and trash and food containers just strewn everywhere. Their ~2 year old baby was even playing on the floor with a piece of pizza crust of undertermined age. They barely acknowledged our presence and asked us to place the food on the coffee table, and just to slide the beer cans out of the way (onto the floor). I wish I could say this was an exaggeration. You don't see the effects of liberal policies until you walk into them. Hooray the helping hand of welfare!

I've volunteered in different fashions to provide food and assistance to those that need it and years ago came to work everyday staying out of the way as they cleaned up the armory after opening it for the night to the homeless. Not once did any of the people receiving the assistance help with the prep and clean up and there were more than enough snide comments that I haven't felt a twinge of guilt for not assisting since.

On the flip side I am in agreement with those that don't give money but a product if that is what somebody really needs. Spent 1 or 2 days a week for several years eating lunch with one of the homeless that hung out near my work. She made me laugh and I bought lunch. It was a good trade off.
