Good Afternoon MYST'ers

Ok so i purchased a 1994 Coleman Fleetwood Pioneer Columbia pop up camper. I am getting ready to install a curtis hitch to tow this around. My question is it has a plug (see pic) and my truck doesnt have it. I only have the one that came with my trac. What do i need to covert this to plug into my ST. Note that my pop up does not have electric brakes :0)

All you need is a flat-4 to 7 round converter. It will plug into the factory connector under your trac alredy. This one retains your flat-4, and gives you the one you need. the link is from etrailer.com, but places like wally world will have them, too.

Guys,

You probably won't find an adapter on the shelf. The trailer appears to have a 7-pin connector, used for indicators, trailer brakes and accessory power. Because an adapter of this sort would disable brakes (if the trailer had them) I don't believe any manufacturer produces one.

I'm guessing that MoSsMan has the factory 4-wire flat as he's mentioning he needs to buy a hitch, and drives a Gen-1.

Two options I'm familiar with:

1) Buy a 7 pin vehicle connector and a 4 wire trailer connector. Follow the wiring diagrams inside to make an adapter. Good for occasional, short term use. It's not weather proof. I did this three years ago to use an enclosed trailer.

2) Wire/mount a 7 pin connector. Fairly easy to do. A permanent mount. And you can find a connector with 4 & 7 for the vehicle so you're set for almost any trailer (except the older 5 and 6 pin connectors). This is what stanner linked.

Good luck with the pop-up.

(the photo larue noted above is to plug a 4 wire trailer into a 7 wire vehicle, opposite of what is needed)
