tranny swap

can someone tell me if the 2005 mustang has the same tranny as the 2001 sport trac and if not will it still work

Not sure but there could some gear ratio difference. Might cause conflict with the computer.

05 stang uses a 5r55s, as E said could be a prob, not a clue if the linkage would even work.

what about a engine swap will it wpork with the 2001 tranny a 2005 4.0 from a mustange

Is it the 4.0L. Maybe with all the harnesses and ECU an TCM. Be alot of work. Probably some fabrication involved. Then there might be a problem with inspections. Depends on where you live.

Why do you need or want to do this, bad tranny? bad Engine?

If you can get the stang engine for cheap, may be able to use it as sort of a shortblock with your trac componants, Dunno tho.

yeh that should work even using the same comp. and harness i will have to think about that ifi cant usethe whole thing really i could use the whole motor except the intake if thats the case.

It can be done, You need a separate Stand along TCM which can be done....



But the 5r55s only has a lower first gear......



I am switching from 4.10 to to 4.56 to solve the issue of sluggish bottom end...

The block is the same so I dont see why not.... Just check the part numbers on the flywheel and starter, If that is the same, you should be good to go....
