Transmission Controller

Does anyone know of a stand alone transmission controller that will work with an ‘02 4x4 automatic? Or as an alternative, what manual transmission will work to swap in?

For the 5R55S? No.
I believe that the manual transmission is the M5OD-R4/M5R4.
You can might be able to swap in a 2011+ 6R80 and use the USShift Quick 6 to control it.

Believe 2001~2005 Gen1 SportTracs all had V6~4.0L~SOHC engines & auto transmission is\was a 5r55e.
Auto transmission shift control done by the PCM; lots of variables used in those lines of computer code.
Never heard\read of anyone disconnecting\replacing the PCM with a seperate tranny controller;
if it has been done, would be a rare animal. Custom tunes can be done to change shift characteristics.

Controlling the 6r80 would not be the problem finding a adapter from a 4.0 to a version of a 6r80 maybe I’ve done this quite a bit not rocket science .
