Should I have the manual tranny rebuilt? :unsure: Or, swap out to a automatic? :unsure: I am torn between the two, so please help me decide by Monday. Thanks

Stay with the manual. Automatics take alot more work to convert, including wiring, ECU, and possibly other sensors.
For example, on my Escort GT, if I were to convert the manual to a automatic, I would not only need wiring to the tranny, but also a new TPS (manual is a 3 wire, automatic is a 4 wire), flywheel, half shafts, radiator...just to name a few.
Stick with the manual tranny.

Kevin, Thanks for your effort, but I feel it is better to go the rebuild route since it will be warrentied.

If I knew back in '01 what I now know about the 5-speed manual tranny being a HD version of the Ranger 5-speed manual tranny, I would definately have chosen the automatic for a number of reasons. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the manual tranny and have been driving manual trannys for most of my life. I learned on a manual tranny, Fiat 600 to be exact; and yes, much to my dad's dismay, I did have too much fun in that little car.
