I just got to FL on vacation and my wife asked "whats that tube hanging down". I got under the truck in the back and on the left axle next to the differential there is a tube attached to a fitting and the other end was dragging the road. What is this for? Is it supposed to be connected to something?Any help??

Rear axle vent tube....

IT goes to a metal plate just above the spair tire.... Just zip tie it up anywhere..

Here's the vent tube in the proper frame clip. Yours may have just slipped out. Follow the dotted line!:D

This is a top view,BTW.

I can't find where it attaches. Does it matter, as long as it isn't crushed off?

Thanks.

Doesn't really matter. It needs to be high enough so that if you drive in deep water, the water doesn't enter the tube. Also, there should be a vent fitting on the end.

As Todd notes, get a nylon zip tie or two and attach it where the clip (probably) was. Good enough.
