I have read so much that I am worse off then when I started. Can anyone give me factual evidence / information that can show if and to what extent custom tunes have improved their MPG. Trying to do a cost analysis to see if you will ever break even by saving 1 or 2 cents a mile.

Honestly, Take a 1-2 MPG gain and $400.00....

Do the math...

IT may take 5 years to gain the savings...

The devices are sold more for HP and drivability rather then MPG...

MPG is a bi product gain that some gain and some don't..

Al Franklin has a 30+ MPG explorer 4.0.....

I have recorded a high of 27 MPG when I was running slightly lean, Now with my 13:1 AF ratio tune I can see 21-24 on the Highway and taking it easy can get 18-20 around town...

It is mostly how you drive, plain and simple..

Last time I calculated, I'll break even at about 110,000. I'm at 92,300 now...

Of course, every time Todd comes up with something new, that figure gets higher.

And if that's the guy I think it is from the other board, he spent a crapload of money to get there but it was as much for the challenge as anything else.
