Hi All,

I just accepted a new job position in which they provide a company car. I am contemplating selling the Sport Trac... It is a 2003 XLT, 81k miles. What do you all recommend using for used car appraisals? KBB? Edmunds? NADA?

Thanks!

Does the company car allow for personal use and personal miles?

If not, or if is pretty restricted you may want to hand onto your Trac.

From personal history I will tell you this, once you have a truck you will miss it when it is gone....

The company does allow unlimited personal use (gas, insurance, maintenance)

I am most likely going to hang onto the Trac, but am looking into all options.

I also have a 2010 Camry Hybrid that I will sell for sure.

My thinking is: sell the Camry and keep the Trac or sell both and upgrade to a newer Trac or F150.

Trade in values aren't very attractive so I am going to see if i can sell them private party first. If I can find a buyer for both, I might have a newer Trac!

you still have to report psnl mileage to the IRS at tax time.

The company pays for your gasoline, maintenance, & insurance? While allowing unlimited personal use, or am I reading this wrong?

I'd think you'd regret selling the ST, less so if you got another truck to replace it, but I'd bet that no one would regret selling a hybrid camry

Even 3rd party selling the Trac & the hybrid will that be enough to get another truck? I think I'm losing focus here as I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of someone paying money for a camry hybrid, even if it is just from 2010. I'm underwhelmed with the normal 2011 camry, and the hybrid has to be worse

You are correct, even though the company allows personal use, I still report personal miles to the IRS. Still a better deal than worrying about a car payment, insurance, maintenance, and gas. I just picked up a 2011 Ford Taurus.

The hybrid was my old company vehicle that i bought after the lease was up. I really enjoyed it while I had it. Gas mileage was about 38 mpg, lots of options, and while it didn't have great acceleration, it was enough for me. If I could use 3 vehicles I would keep it, but I'd rather have the money for it.

I checked multiple sources on used car prices and decided to ask the average price of them all. Hopefully someone will be happy with the pricing.

still the best selling mid-size sedan in america :driving:

Just because the car sells well doesn't mean it'll impress me. The car is good at what it does--commuting people, people who aren't driving enthusiasts, from point a to point b in relative comfort. I've only been in the front seats (passenger & driver's) of the 2011 camry, but they're pretty comfortable and have more footroom than I expected. Commuting my 60 miles round-trip is fun enough, when I'm on the major roads or stuck in traffic, but I'd honestly rather drive my ST on the windy backroads.

My biggest gripe about the Camry (since I understand it was never meant to be a "driver's car") is the crappy gas mileage. 32 MPG highway in 2011?! C'mon, we had better mileage than that in the 90s. The 1998 Ford Escort Wagon is rated on-par or better with the Camry. A smaller car with a 13 year advantage on technological development should be owning that wagon.

A commuter car, which the camry & corolla are, should get more than 20-some mpg city and the low 30s on the highway. :soap::soap:
