This is way off-topic but I was wondering if anyone could help. A co-worker of mine is trying to sell me a 3 year old used lawn-boy mower. It is in great shape and has all service records and was adult used. I had worked many years for a lawn boy dealler but am out of touch on the used prices. I guess my question is how much should I give him for it? He payed about 600 bucks 3 years ago. Thanks for the help.:D

Since LawnBoy no longer makes 2-cycle mowers (emissions laws), the value seems to be affected.

If you buy a very good one or new one and store it for collectors, it could be worth quite a bit in several years.

If you buy one to use, expect its value to decline rapidly.

I would suggest $250 or less if this mower is used but in very good condition. If it needs work, the price should drop even more.

These are good mowers, but not as good as the old F and H-series engines.

They sell new mowers here for 300 bucks, self propelled...

I bough my Honda on line ... Paied 200 less than any where local...

If I can get ahold of my brother...he repairs and resales mowers of all types..maybe he can give me some info..

Just talked with my brother...he said being that it is a 2 cycle motor and they are being phased out..parts will be hard to come by...he said here in texas in excellent shape he would charge $200 to $225 for that model used 3yrs old....

I am a big fan of the old 2cycle lawn boys.... they seem to cut really good and are very lightweight. Broke my heart they quit making them.....

I just bought a Craftsman w/ a Honda engine for 289.00 and it took 1 pull out of the box to start.

I'll give ya 50.00 for the lawn boy...... :) I try to get 'em at yard sales for that price.

Cruzrtwdgt, I have to say that if merely the cessation of sales of 2 cycle mowers by one (of many) lawn mower manufacturers is enough to "break your heart", you really need to get out more...

If he paid $600 new then it should be the commercial model and not the home unit. Has a bigger fuel tank, better wheels, and a stronger frame and wheel adjusters. It will last forever. Commercial models have a large orange fuel tank and orange wheels with metal centers and ball bearings. If you can grab it for $300 or less I'd say jump on it.
