That's funny.
I'm not offended.
I have type 2 diabetes. In Feb I was diagnosed. Had an A1C of 6.9, and a fasting blood glucose of 139mg.
Without medication, and only lifestyle change (eating right, exercising) I reversed the trend. 8 weeks and 23 pounds later I had an A1C of 6, and a fasting blood glucose level of 89mg.
That was 4 weeks ago. Have lost an additional 10 lbs since then. Blood sugar is in really good shape.
Ran a 5k (non-stop) today. First time since a teen. Not a stellar time...29m, but still, I'm impressed with myself.
WOW!
Yeah, it's hard work, and yeah, I no longer eat and lay around like a fat pig.
My diabetes education class made it clear that I should still consider myself at least "pre-diabetic", given my family history and the fact that I simply CANNOT backslide and lead the type of life that others might and get away with. For me, I have to hold myself to a 1900 calorie a day, balanced diet, and I need about 600 calories worth of cardio exercise (walk or jog 3 miles) a day, at least 5 days a week. That's what I need to stay healthy and on top of this.
At 44 years old I just couldn't see going on medication for type 2 diabetis if there were any alternatives.
