I'm one of those people that's always looking to save $$$ on "Quality" products and I only advocate products that I use myself so this is not a sales pitch.

Vonage is offering VoIP (Voice over IP) phone service for $24.99/month which includes all of the bells and whistles that your local phone company charges extra for (Caller ID, 3-Way, Call forwarding, Voicemail, Unlimited Nationwide long distance, etc). They just added FREE UNLIMITED calls to Europe (Italy, France, Spain, U.K. & Ireland). That might not be of interest to most but to some it will save them a ton of money!

I'm a current customer and they have a promotion where I get 2 Months FREE service for referrals and you get your first month's service FREE as well. You keep your current phone number and eveything transfers smoothly.

If anyone is interested please let me know, I would love to refer anyone that is interested. Feel free to email me or post any questions.

Many Thanks,

Aaron

I am trying Skype. It is free in the US till the end of the year and will be .029 cents per minute after that to any phone, cell or regular. I really just started today and have only made one phone call, but it worked really well. You have to make calls to another Skype user, but using their regular phone.

Paul,

I am trying that out on Monday. I picked up a nice headset tonight. From using my brother's Skype account, it seems like it is a pretty solid service.

Our local phone company is offering digital cable with all Showtime, HBO, Starz, Cinemax, etc along with Internet and phone (includes free calling to Canada (IIRC) and the USA) for $104.00/month.

Not a bad deal.

I have Vonage with the little VOIP phone that is the size of a cell phone.... works well with my in home wireless network, and also works anywhere there is an open wireless signal such as hotels, neighbors houses, etc.:lol::lol::unsure:

Sunrocket. They typically run 2 years for $199 promos over major holidays. I've had it now for several weeks and am currently awaiting a port from Verizon with my number. The key thing to keep in mind is that with VOIP providers, the underlying ISP line quality and speed are paramount.

I don't make enough phone calls to consider VOIP phone. I'll stick with my good ol POTS service and high speed DSL.

Just know, if you ever cancel Vonage it is a PITA! My shop doesn't have high speed access as I have to use IDSL 144K speeds. Vonage doesn't work well at all at this low broadband speed. Spent 20 mins on the phone to cancel and they still screwed up and tried billing me for the next month of service. I finally had to call Capital One and dispute the charges.

I agree with SeattleSportTrac.

I only had it a few days and it really was terrible. It kept dropping calls. Although they wanted to try different things, it really turned me off at the time I just needed something that worked. It took me 3 months to get my money back.
