To all of the wallpapering experts out there, does anybody know the key to keeping a wallpaper border sticking to a textured wall? I tried to sand the area down before applying a pre-pasted vinyl border but after an hour of drying, it began to come undone. Now after several hours, it is just barely hanging on the wall. Would a paste work in addition to the stuff that is already on the paper. I am getting ready to start nailing the **** to the wall if somebody doesn't give me some suggestions. Just kidding (no actually I am not)! Thanks for the help.

Freeport, the colored side goes up. That may be your problem. Actually you should size (sp?) the wall first. Then use a good vinyl paste. Use a wall paper brush on the border to insure full contact with the wall. As Bill_E has said the pre-pasted wallpaper is very tentative when it comes to sticking to anything except a flat well sized wall. Go with the heavier vinyl past and you should be OK.

If you have read the article at the post by now you'll see you need to properly prepare the wall to receive the paper.

And, yeah, a little extra paste never hurt anything - except when you try to remove it later on.

Good luck!

:)
