Well, I got my self into a pickle. The handle on the tailgate does not open the tailgate and I lost the keys to the Ford OEM tonneu cover. I need to get the tailgate open so that I can fix what is wrong with the tailgate lock/handle/power lock actuator, or what ever is causing my problem. I installed a power tailgate lock and manual tonneu cover releases a few years ago and have not needed the keys for the tonneau since. I have already confirmed that the tailgate is not locked. I have considered trying to do the following: - Drill out the two bolts holding the tonneu cover lock mechanism in place and open the tonneu cover via the cables going from the lock mechanism to the latches. I can do this to either the lock near the back or the lock at the front left side of the cover. - Break the plastic handle assembly in the tailgatge and remove it in pieces to access the two rods that go from the tailgate handle assembly to the tailgate latches, and then reaching in and moving the rods to unlatch the tailgate. - Finding a key to unlock the tonneu cover. I have no record of the key number so I have no idea how to find/order a replacement key. Any thoughts on the chances that any of the above possible solutions will work?
