I am considering using 1 1/4" wheel spacer on my 01 Sport Trac. Does anyone have any experience or advice for me? I am especially interested if the spacers negatively affect in any way handling or towing characteristics. I rarely tow with my Sport Trac and when I do, the weight is within the truck's specified limits.

Steve I run 1 1/2 in spacers front and rear on my ST. I have had no negative effects due to the spacers. Just be sure to check the lugs for tightness every few days immediately after installing them as mine loosened up as the aluminium broke itself in. I got mine off of ebay. I also towing occasionally and have seen no negative effects. I saw very little difference in handling, it may track slightly better, but it looks 10x better than stock and is cheap to boot. You may have to trim the inner wheel well as I had some rubbing, but I did the TT instead.

Also what rims are you going to run. Most aftermarket rims do not have the dimples for 1.25 spacers, you would need 1.5... IF you have the stock rims, they work fine...

I have had 1.2 spacers on the back and they where worth every penny...

I tow, Race, and drive hard. Even took a 2100 mile road trip with no problems...

Just install them correctly..

I have had spacers on the front and backs for over two years. No problems. The pros are that they widen the stance by 3 iches (2 X 1.5). Unless you go exteme off roading, I don't see a negative.

Make sure that you use billet spacers and use hub centric spacers or use hole centric lugs

I installed 1 1/4" with my stock wheels and left them on when I installed my after market wheels with no problems except I had to grind the studs off about 1/4".:)

Depending on the releif on the new wheels, they may allow the orginal studs to pass through the spacer without interference with the wheel. Check the alignment of the studs with the rear of the wheel.
