Please give me some ideas on tires that are low budget. <$100-$125 per tire. I have done some research and it seems it really varies with the vehicle, the weight the year of the vehicle. Please help as these Goodyear rt/s stink! I have a very sour taste from Goodyear tires but they came with the vehicle. They still have tread but loud, floppy and uneven wear- even after numerous wheel bearings alignments and rotation and balance! I'm ready for a quiet stable, tractioned, etc. tire!

:(

Goodyears suck. IMO the uneven wear has more to do with how the tires are made then how you take care of them. I like Michilins the best. I have never had a problem with them.

Goodyears suck, unless you get the extreme high-end tires, but then they are expen$ive.

The stock shocks suck. Any replacement shock is better than the Ford OEM.

Good luck!

Yeah, number one, get new shocks. Plain ol' Monroe Gas LT's would be better, or whatever generic stuff your local service station sells.

Friend of mine owns a tire shop, sells A LOT of these:

Wild Spirit MPT, aka Wild Country APT.

Great in rain, good in snow and light off-roading, wear like iron, and don't cost a ton. I have them on my van. 75% of the trucks in the county run these. Check the website, see if anybody near you sells them. Also on another truck site I'm on, a lot of people have good things to say about the BFG Land Terrain that Wal-Mart sells. Me, I prefer to support my local small businessman when I can because I'm one too. On a Trac a P load rating is fine, you do not need the more expensive LT rated tires.

What driving situations are you most concerned with? Do you go off road? 4x2 or 4x4? Stay on pavenment 100% of the time? How much snow driving?

I went with new tires after one of my GoodYear RT/S melted on the hwy.

I picked Pirelli Scorpion STR-A tires after reading a few good reviews about them. I liked their specs as they were all-terrain, mud and snow rated, with a T speed rating and 60,000 mile treadwear.

Plus they were about the same price as another set of GoodYear RT/S.

I drive 99.999% on road, with the occasional, brief (read no other choice) off pavement run. I don't do any true off-roading.

The tire guy wanted to sell me another set of knobby aggressive tread mud stomper type tires. I had the tire guy special order the Pirelli STR-A for me, and when they arrived he remarked that it looked like a very good road tire, then asked if I ever did any off road driving in my SUV. I answered, not many people in NYC do. I need a durable, multi-tasking tire that can handle ABUSE and give me a comfortable ride when it isn't taking a pounding. These have lived up well, and the traction is top notch.

There was an immediate improvement in comfort, handling, and noise. Shortly thereafter, I installed Edelbrock Performer IAS Shocks, and some time thereafter the EE Rear Sway Bar. All made their own improvement.

The Trac just gets better with age.
