after avoiding the repaving of a section of the long isle expwy the past 2 months, today i decide to drive on the "stipped down" section awaiting repave.

the constuction work is done at night and during the day the lanes are re-opened. it is stripped down with rocks/pebbles on the surface and at 65-75 mph the vehicles in front kick up the debris. i was almost thru the section when a tractor trailer moved outside the lane and blasted everyone behind. as the rocks were bouncing off the windshield/hood i heard a bang in the back.

my back window was broken. i pulled over and a sheriff stopped and both of us are WTF?

the only thing we came up with was that some rocks must have gone over the roof hit the rear roof spoiler and deflected into the rear window. i nursed it home fearing the entire window will collapse.

thanks NY state

good one :haveabeer:

edit: went back and checked, 4 not 5 windshields.

it doesn't matter.

driving on the LIE with all the BS sand trucks & crappy work it is going to happen  :boohoo:

Did you maybe have a window open? Sounds kind of impossible for it to come back around and break the window. Did you check the roof spoiler for stone damage? It definately sucks, is the ins. co. gonna help pay for it? I agree the LIE is a PIA especially the couple times I went out there to see you guys. The way back was the worst, getting stuck in Queens? trying to get to the exits for NJ. Bob

I think you gave the sheriff the finger for driving an american car and he shot it out !!!

HAHAH

I FEEL your pain....... the LIE SUCKS !!

bob,

we were stunned as to how the rear window broke. there were so many nice size rocks that were being kicked up. we thought at 60mph, it could have gone over the roof hit the spoiler and redirected into the window. the spoiler curves back toward the window and the rock hole was right at the top of the window.

no insurance as it is a company vehicle and we have a 5K deductible

hate the LIE

"Gary, just admit it. You failed to yield to the cop. He shot it out......."

don't get tickets.
