Here is my other truck. This is the one I get my fingers dirty on.

1982 Jeep Cherokee Wide track.

Spring Over Axle conversion up front and Shackle Flip in the rear with cross over/high steer conversion and an agr steering box. I transplanted a 401 from an early 70's Javilen and put on an Edelbrock performer and holley TA. The ignition is a converted HEI. I have an aluminum raditor. I took the TF727 and np208 out of an 81 waggy so I could have a part time transfer case. Its got a d44 with an aussie locker up front and amc20 with an ARB in the rear. BFG 35X12.5 tires on some inexpensive aluminum wheel. Corbeau Moab Seats and RCI 6point Harness for both the driver and passenger. Hella Aux lights/tuffy console/killer32 slider bars. The stereo is alpine deck,amp,speakers(4) with Jenson sub powered by a kenwood amp.

I am going to get a full roll cage and some off road bumpers in the next month or so. Right now I don't have any recovery points. I have a warn winch on a receiver mount but I will probably just get it mounted to the front bumper and be done with it.

Here is a shot of it wheel'n.

And a couple of pictures right after I had it painted and got the lift/drive train done:

That looks AWESOME!

That was made when Jeeps were still Jeeps.

Here is my other "truck"...

[Broken External Image]:

It is a 2000 Explorer XLT. Completely stock in that picture. Now it has TT/Shackle lift, 31x10.5-15 tires, Rancho 9000 shocks, Zabtek cold air intake, and 206,000 miles.

Will, that is totally cool!! You did a great job working on the Jeep. Speaks volumes as to your abilities. Use it like it was meant to be used. Nice, Bob

PS: Gary why do you torture yourself? Yours is a soccer mom's grocery getter. Will' is definately a "real truck"!! :smack:

Thanks guys. There are all kinds of people who will argue if the Cherokee is a 'real truck' (no bed) and I know there are lots of folks who will tell you a Sport Trac isn't a 'real truck'. But I tell them body on Frame pretty much makes the Sport Trac a 'real truck'.

So I wasn't trying to get folks teasing each other. I was mostly curious as to what other trucks people drive and if they work on them themselves. On the Cherokee I pretty much do all the wrenching. I don't do paint and body work. I had a buddy do the spring perch welding for the SOA and help with modifying and welding the transmission mount to clear the front drive shaft. Another buddy saved me some time by helping to cut off the rear spring mounts with a plasma cutter. (I had started with a cutting wheel and after 1/2 hour and not much progress...). I don't rebuild tranny's, I won't try to set gears and I let the machine shop assemble the short block. Other than that I pretty much do everything else myself.

The Cherokee, being old school, is pretty 'simple' to work on. No computers, not alot of electrical, it's all pretty straight forward. Of course there are some engineering quirks too...

So I poked around and saw some guys who do tuning and such on their ST and was just wondering what else ya drive and do ya work on it yourself.

BTW.. I don't plan on doing much with the Sport Trac. Maintaince stuff for sure but no lifts or any extreme customization... Althought I do admit that a couple of the super charger write ups did peak my interest. ;)

So Tom, on the Explorer what is the TT part of TT/shackle lift?

bob,

no doubt will's is a real truck. better yet, a real nice rare truck. :supercool:

"Yours is a soccer mom's grocery getter"

true, but the groceries get home quicker with a quality/reliable ride :driving:

BTW: the original post asked for pics :worthless:

:fire: That green thing with the bow tie ever had any mud on it? :bwahaha:

Just kidding, me no like-um much mud either. Too much effort to clean it all off again.

Here's my Show/Drift Truck. 2.5 Ironduke (246rwhp, 374ft.lbs.trqe.), 4 speed manual trans, suicided hood, every nut and bolt was painted, polished or chromed on the truck and I drive it like it's stolen ( no room for babying something that's built to perform, right). This picture was taken at Carlisle All Truck Nationals in 2009:driving::banana:

And here's BIG Brother guarding him at home.

Torsion Twist. On the 1st Gen Trac's, 2001 to 2003 Explorer Sports, and the 1996 to 2001 Explorers, you tighten up the torsion bolts and get some lift out of it.

meh I knew it was there just didn't realize it was so deep, it's in my mother-in-laws back yard. Thats the drainage ditch that runs next to the road

I think I have a different definition of "truck" than some of y'all.

Will, that is an amazing Jeep. Good work.
