Welcome, presuming you have the 4L SOHC engine and 5r55e transmission you can plan to replace the timing chain tensioners soon. Use only OEM parts for this and it took me about a half day because I removed the right fender skirt to access the lower one. There are some good YouTube videos on the...
Scary? Sorry to hear about your tribulation but I see why it's your last left-side tensioner replacement. I can add that even though the old tensioners I removed had over 75K miles on them they were still as strong as the new OEM tensioners in comparison. Using a bench vise and oil can I...
The gasket mentioned in item number 3 cannot be overemphasized. Even though the gasket is a thin metal shim washer, it makes up for a difference in tolerance from the machining of the tensioner body. Last time I replaced the tensioners myself but the mechanic who previously replaced them omitted...
Following up on the alignment of the shifter indicator alignment I discovered the cheapest most fragile plastic part on the adjuster that I have ever seen on an automotive application. Lucky me, the metal replacement was available on Amazon and going in right after this cup of coffee!
I just tightened the 2 screws on my shifter column linkage to take the mush away from moving through the gears but I’m looking into how to align the indicator mark to the scale. The mark lands to the right of the gear scale letter but better functionality. Hate to say this but my college grad...
Just wondering how far into the pan do the threads reach? Wouldn’t it leave some old oil in the bottom if it went significantly higher than the pan threads?
I think the difference here is qualitative, there is quantitative. I've nudged a few FB group members in this direction for answers to some difficult questions.
RockAuto dot com is where I bought my replacement headlights and they came with bulbs so I have spares. I tried Turtle Wax brand buffing compound but it wasn’t enough for the old clouded lenses.
Congratulations on the steroidal departure from stock! Obviously a great deal of talent and resources invested. There is no metric for FPG, fun per gallon.
Thank you! I remember using bolts a bit longer than stock because that’s what was available at the Quality Fasteners store at the time. But the hardness was greater than stock so I don’t know how the alignment would have possibly broken it. Unless the lift point made contact with the excess length.
Since there’s so much seasoned experience regarding lifts in this thread I think it’s a good place to ask this. Some years ago I installed a pair of eccentric torsion bar keys to bring my front end up a few inches to even with the rear after replacing the leaf springs. But a chain store...
