Can we talk "roll bars"? (i.e., sport bars)

And shortly after you "block" or "ignore" some hack on FB another misinformed idiot replies. It's either here or EF for me.

    Windshield washer pump fuse?

Electrical connector, and two spray outlets. Replace if you don't hear the pump. IIRC, no designated pump fuse. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/washer-pump-not-working.466505/

    Body Lift Questions & Concerns

Great info @dvdswan Also VERY important to check alignment after changing ride height. Camber and caster is affected any time the torsion bolts are adjusted. Installing camber kits is also recommended for ease of alignment. 1-1/2 degree camber kits should be adequate for a 2-1/2 to 3 inch...

    Oil Leak onto Exhaust

May be the rear main seal. Mine leaks less than 1/2 pint annually, but occasionally drips on the front catalytic converter when moving and smells up the cab. A tell tale sign are oil drips on the bottom of the bell housing. I'll live with it until it gets much worse. Just can't see lifting the...

    Replaced Control Arms, now this..

^ @kent Gorham OP @Chris TosteJr mentioned replacing upper and lower control arms in the first post. Ball joints are included in UCA and LCA assemblies. Also failed to mention the brand. If they were Dorman, Detroit Axle, or other lower tier replacements early failures would NOT surprise me.

    swap interior parts ??

Most plastic body parts are getting very scarce and some times can only be found in well stocked salvage yards, ePay, or sites like car-part.com or Hollander Parts. @mr.iluv5layers Your 2005 XLS center console is missing the soft bag. They can still be found used but expect to pay $50 or more...

    Project Parts - Best Brands

Just to show how far south this "easy" job went for me. My upper hydraulic tensioner is NEVER coming out again as long as I own this vehicle. https://sporttrac.org/threads/front-timing-chain-hydraulic-tensioner-disaster-averted.122385/

Ditto. The rubber coated metal gasket is almost always required to assure a good seal. Inside gasket diameter is also larger than the M22 x 1.5 tensioner so centering is very important. Made that mistake installing the upper and had a "gusher" when I started the engine. A thin coat of heavy...

@David Cook 3 There are countless threads regarding Ford's 4.0L SOHC timing chain guide issues. I quickly searched and found this older, but informative article. However there is one glaring mistake. The 4.0L SOHC IS an interference engine and pistons can collide with valves when plastic guides...

@David Cook 3 The "plastic parts" found inside the oil pan you are referring to are the internal orange colored plastic guides used for the center primary, front left, and rear right timing chains designed to keep the chains taut. The function of the two externally mounted hydraulic tensioners...

Don't recall reports of OE Ford/Motorcraft hydraulic tensioners "breaking apart". Maybe the rubber check valve shown in the video linked below? There have been reports of improvements made with OE hydraulic tensioners. I'll search and post if I can find details. Browse through this excellent...

    Rear Main Engine Seal

My 2005 4.0L has a similar RMS engine leak @ 89,000 miles. Loses less than one half pint (8 ounces) in between twelve month oil changes. Reason I don't change oil at the recommended 6 month or 3000 mile whichever comes first interval is because I sent a 12 month old, 4000 mile oil sample to...

2005 ST XLT - Thermostat Housing Replacement

That short water pump bypass "hose from hell" can be a PITA to install. I folded it with a zip tie and lightly lubricated both ends of the hose to make it easier to slip on both nipples. I reused the OE constant tension hose clamps because I prefer the design to worm gear type clamps. Trick is...

Your parts list is well researched. Having ownership since 2009 I've had both good and bad experiences with a few of your selections. 1. Theromostat. Aftermarket is usually OK, but most have had the best results with the OE Motorcraft RT1167 (190*) 2. Stock front sway bar end links are...
