    Don’t like this noise

Don't know about "smart". Learned 99% from others on these forums. Also here long enough to hear another description of failed OE front sway bar end links. Probably the cheapest and easiest suspension fix you'll ever do. Good luck!

    Don’t like this noise

OE front sway bar end links are probably the first and most common suspension failure. Factory design uses small diameter bolts and hard bushings that tend to trap moisture resulting in bolt corrosion or bushings breaking. Early in my trucks life I had multiple failures after "upgrading" to Moog...

    Don’t like this noise

What year? Like most trucks Sport Tracs are notorious for suspension parts wear. Lift the front tires off the ground and support with solid jack stands. Crawl under and inspect all suspension parts for wear or looseness. Lower and upper ball joints are usually the first to go. Also check both...

What the heck and what's the fix?

2004-05 instrument cluster issues are VERY common with 2004-05 Sport Tracs with digital ODO's. Call CBM? https://circuitboardmedics.com/2004-2005-ford-explorer-sport-trac-instrument-cluster-repair/

    Windshield wipers won't turn off.

Sounds like the Ford/Motorcraft MFS is discontinued. IF the MFS switch is your wiper problem click the link below. Confirm fitment BEFORE ordering. https://sporttrac.org/threads/2004-2005-turn-signal-switch-substitute.123518/ Here's a related EF thread. Once again, check similar threads on the...

    Windshield wipers won't turn off.

Never had a wiper problem with my 2005. IIRC, the multi function switch (MFS) is notorious for intermittent issues on 2001-05 Sport Tracs. Another possibility is the MFS connector being too short from the factory causing certain functions to fail after the steering wheel was tilted. IF you have...

    Signal flasher relay 2nd gen

Think you're right. Sounds like the flasher relay is in the smart junction box. (SJB) https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/search/2402577/?q=flasher+relay&t=post&c[child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=111&o=relevance Don't hold me to this though. Hopefully someone with a Gen 2 Sport Trac with flasher...

    2004 Sport Trac

4.0L SOHC is actually very stout. Bottom end is almost bulletproof and rarely hear about issues. Achilles heel has ALWAYS been the plastic timing guides that deteriorate over time and break. Years ago I was writing and begging reputable aftermarket engine parts companies such as Cloyes and...

    2004 Sport Trac

Welcome @Drkhorse Always nice to see new members with automotive experience share their knowledge. I have a 2005 with 90,000 miles that sounds like a broken primary tensioner when cold or at normal operating temp. I know it's the easy one to replace, but need an excuse to drop in a 302...

    Brake fluid disappears

How much brake fluid loss? Leaking caliper piston seals are somewhat common, but should leave traces of fluid.

Torch add-a-leaf kit and 3" body lift concerns on 20 year old Sport Trac

Love the utility of the Sport Trac, but I'm 5'5" and stock height was just too high for my shorter mother to get in and out of easily. Sure, I could carry around a step stool, but really? Even worse was loading something heavy into my almost chest high bed. There are very few places on this...

Torch add-a-leaf kit and 3" body lift concerns on 20 year old Sport Trac

Thanks. Bought used in 2009 with 46,000 miles. Averaged around 3000 to 4000 miles a year until I retired in 2021. Currently just below 90,000 and drove less than 2000 miles last year. Almost a garage queen now. Suspension drops are relatively easy with 2001-05 Sport Tracs. Remove both front...

Torch add-a-leaf kit and 3" body lift concerns on 20 year old Sport Trac

I'm lowered 3 inches so no body lift experience. Didn't read these other threads, but there may be some info regarding your Performance Accessories 70023 lift kit. GL Search results for query: pa 70023 https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/search/2306808/?q=pa+70023&o=relevance...
