Center console change, putting 2002 trac console into a 2004 trac

I'm pretty sure you can make the switch with a few minor mods. Ive seen guys on the explorer forum put explorer consoles in their tracs like curtis did. If they got that to work I'm sure you can change out the two consoles without any problems. Or you could go the ammo can route like me! :)...

I use armor-all plastic restorer on my trim. It's very easy to use and repels water well. It usually lasts for a few car washes. A small bottle will last you a while, which is good because it's overpriced. You could also wipe the plastic down with wd40. That would probably work just as good.

    Alternate to paint.?

I saw a truck (not a st, actually a tundra) that was raptor lined. I spoke with the owner and he said that he did it himself. It looked amazing. Much better than plastidip. He said that the liner reduced inside noise. He also said it was very difficult to clean. I didnt see any of the tight...

    Roof trim pieces

I thought of that. It would definitely look great. I was just afraid that water might get trapped underneath. Worth looking into tho...

    Roof trim pieces

I actually put the roof rails back on. I just took them off to paint.

    Roof trim pieces

Well i finally got around to cleaning and painting the place where my trim used to be. I scraped out the old paint and whatever ford used to fill in the groove. Then I filled in the groove with some white sealer and painted the whole area with some oxford white spray paint. Not very pretty up...

Can we talk "roll bars"? (i.e., sport bars)

No bolt on options for our skinny beds, so the only way to get one is to have it custom made. Personally, the roll bar/bed rack makes the st look too much like an avalanche, something i try avoid at all costs :) A rack would be useful tho, and it wouldnt affect gas mileage like a roof rack.

    Water leak ??

In my 02, water was coming in at the top of the windshield and soaking the headliner up front. I found some black sealer and went along the top edge of the windshield. No more leaks. Might be different with a gen 2 tho

    Body Lift Questions & Concerns

If you're going to do a torsion twist, make sure you don't exceed 2 inches to reduce strain on your cv joints if you have a 4x4. Imo you shouldn't buy new torsion keys. The stock keys are far better.

    Oil Leak onto Exhaust

Like @swshawaii said, it might be the rear main seal. I can smell hot oil every time I get out of my truck from where leaking oil blows onto one of my cats. I've tried using at-205, but it didn't work for me. I definitely have oil hitting the ground tho. Might be worth trying, for $20.

DVDSWAN 02 Sport Trac Build/Maintenance thread

Great find! I love my oem cover. I put some armorall plastic restorer on it recently and it looks like new. The side of the cover with the lock in the center points to the back. The two rope handles underneath the cover can be hooked to the bed hooks to hold open one side of the cover while driving.

    Roof trim pieces

Well I took off the passenger side trim piece. I did not remove the bolts from the inside. I removed the two back bolts of the roof rail and slid out the trim. Unfortunately it broke as I expected. It was so dryrotted it broke when i barely touched it. Underneath...ugh. I scraped away some of...

    Roof trim pieces

Good find! Those trim pieces in the kit remind me of floor tile, which reminded me of a project where someone used floor tile to cover holes after deleting the roof rails. Not the same, but related and maybe applicable.

    swap interior parts ??

The broken plastic piece on the side of the seat is a common problem for these trucks. Unfortunately, theyre hard to find and as far as i know are sport trac specific. I would try to replace the entire seat. Im not sure if an explorer or ranger seat will fit. I have the original seats in my...

    Roof trim pieces

Interesting. I wonder if the upgraded ranger trim piece could be cut or modded to fit the st... One thing is sure--I wont be paying 50 bucks to replace one of them! :)

    swap interior parts ??

Most interior parts in the 3rd gen rangers, 2nd gen explorers, and 1st gen sport tracs are interchangeable with some minor modifications. Heres a how-to on a console swap.

    Roof trim pieces

The two trim pieces below the roof rail are bothering me. Im thinking about taking them off. What's underneath them? How should I remove them?
