The steel plate is only for use if you mount the antenna inside the vehicle. I you mount it to the roof, you don't need it.- Rick Darnell

Sal A, I would like to do something similar to what you did. I plan to get an additional center bezel to modify so that I can go back to stock when I trade for my next ST. My question revolves around the switches and air vents. Were they difficult to transfer from one bezel to another...- Rick Darnell
