I don't have a navigation system in my Trac, but from what I've heard others say about double DIN units, you need to trim the radio bezel in order to make it fit.

You're going to have to trim the bezel in order to fit the double din, the Explorer/Ranger/ST is not a true double din. Someone will chim in here that have installed double din size radios in the ST.

you will have to trim the bezel to get it to fit.

there are a few pics in my Library on what to trim...

But they do fit.

Nice unit, Greg. I had hoped to put in a 8019 in time for Long Island, but time was elusive. When I get back, I'll install the 8019 + the Kenwood/Garmin GPS brain. The products appear to be quite nice.

I'm very happy with it. Unfortunately when I got this it was only a couple months and newer models came out with even more features. The Garmin add on is very easy to use but my antenna is on the passenger side on the dash which loses reception at times in the trees. Still even though my system is now obsolete it does more than I'm using. I'm looking to adding Sirrius radio and a backup camera system. Maybe the Kenwood TV tuner and HD radio.

Sal A,

I would like to do something similar to what you did. I plan to get an additional center bezel to modify so that I can go back to stock when I trade for my next ST. My question revolves around the switches and air vents. Were they difficult to transfer from one bezel to another, or did you find a bezel with them already there? My 2005 has the 4x4 switch, the lighter socket, and the rear window switch, along with the vents. Any advice is welcomed.

Thanks!

Rick,

If you look close. the rear window switch has the label of the Rear wiper. I have a bezel from a 1999 Explorer.

the switch in that postion is the same switch as the rear window switch. the only difference is the label.

the only switch I modified was the one for the rear defroster.

had to grind off a tab in the fog light switch to fit in the rear defroster position.

I have to look in my pictures at home to see if I have some pics of the tabs I removed.

as far as dificulty. take your time. and as long as you have a little skill with using a dremel tool and a steady had. should not be a problem.
