    My 2003 Explorer Sport Trac XLT 4.0L V6 4x4

Curious are you still on the same motor? I am approaching 268 K on mine - seems like timing chain tensioners are failing - started thinking about an engine rebuild but need to find someone I can trust here in California

    My 2003 Explorer Sport Trac XLT 4.0L V6 4x4

Just passed 267 K on my 2002 - runs awesome but has started the timing chain rattle on start up - looking to swap out the timing chain tensioners this week - but been following Dillard's suggestion of turning it over with the starter with the accelerator to the floor and that has seemed to...

    Rear End Whine

Rebuilder recommended 85 so I am using an 80 - 90 weight from Lucas - seems to be working well - input from others?

    Rear End Whine

That is what mine is 4.11 LS - 400 sounds reasonable if they provide some sort of guarantee - sounds like it has quite a few miles left - mine did not start whining until around 240 K

    Rear End Whine

I had the same choice junk yard replace or rebuild - since I can't afford a new ranger or maverick and I really like my sport trac I decided to go with rebuild because all the junk yard options I saw here in Northern California were high mileage - mine was so worn that it had worn the driver's...

    Rear End Whine

When my rear end started whining and then got progressively worse wound up having a local rear end shop rebuild it - pricey but now it is all new and runs great - worth it for me as we use this as long trip vehicle so need something as reliable as possible

Just joining have Sport Trac 2001

Hi - I wound up ordering a topper a couple of years ago from ARE for my 2002 - was pricey but fits and looks good - $2200 installed - took roughly 6 months to get it

    turn signal

Awesome - thanks for sharing - I am still on original transmission but had the rear end rebuilt about 10000 miles ago - quite an improvement in ride quality - I had the trans inspected awhile back and the shop said they could see no problems - like you I do regular fluid changes -
