04 ST won't shift into Park

I can't get my 2004 Sport Trac to shift into Park. The shift indicator gets close to Park...but the truck still rolls in reverse. Has anyone else had this problem?



Haven't been on the forum for a while, was there a recall?

Sounds like your linkage slipped in the slot.

Is that an easy fix / something I can do? If I can avoid a hefty mechanic bill I'm all for it. Funds are reallllllly tight!

Do a search. This did come up, not too long ago. I think someone chimed in with the fix.

Wasnt this the issue with the shift cable coming loose back behind the dash? (Screws loosening up, or falling out) IIRC, that was what the other thread was referring to...

The determination was a BRACKET that holds the shift cable was loose or missing a bolt.
