Hey guys-

I am going to be ordering a '07 ST in May-June when the PDBL becames orderable, I am currently looking into all the options I want, I definately will be getting a V8 w/ leather, but I can't decide if I want a moonroof. What are everyone's thoughts? I think they are cool, but I also worry about maintenance issues. I am sure they have come a long way since the late 80's Honda I am familiar with, but it leaked a lot. I guess I was hoping to hear from some other people who might have owned cars with moonroofs and their thoughts.

Thanks a lot!

Never a leak with an 04 with the roof. Love it on sunny days and warm summer nights, especially when I can put all the windows, including the rear, down and open the roof. It's a pseudo-convertible. :)

Get the moonroof. You'll love it. I have mine open every just about anytime it's over 45 degrees and not raining.

The moon roof leaks on my wifes ford escape..all the drains are connected and clear..gaskets are good...I have had other vehicles with them...for me they all leak in time...I told her so, but she just had to have it....

I have one on my Toyota and had one on a Honda, no leaks. But neither have I owned them for more than a few years. If Iet an 07, it will have it along with PDBL. Nothing better than a psuedo convertable on a nice day.

My 13 year old Escort GT's monroof doesn't leak. Neither does my brothers 150,000 mile Explorer and my 2002 Trac's moonroof.

I appreciate all the feedback-- my only concern is livin in the Good ol Pacific NW, we get a ton of rain! But I love the idea of a moonroof.

get a moonroof, my 01 has it and it is great!!!, I will clue y'all in on a secret, I build cars(Tauruses) and all the vehicles with moonroofs, the roof is reinforced, it means that you get a stronger roof with a noonroof than with out. That is why the wife's freestyle has one, she didn't care about it, but I insisted.

Y'all have a good one

I have a job 2 '01 with almost 70K miles and it was never garaged. I was not a "moonroof" kinda guy, never had one and didnt care for them. Especially since I have long hair, half way down my back and it gets sucked out the moonroof.

We got the moonroof on my wifes request and I have to say that it grew on me, I like it. Never had a problem with it. Just dont open it when it is wet like after it rains or snows, give the weather stripping some time to dry. Ofcourse dont forget to close it, thats always the time you get one of those unexpected sun showers.

We will also be ordering an '07 V8, have to get the leather to get the passenger side lumbar support for my wifes lower back problems. Will definately get the moonroof and PDBL. Trying to figure if I should get the NAV system or guy one of the garmen stand alone units.

I have owned 2 Tracs, both with the moon roof. I would NOT buy it if it was not an option...

What you will find is that you will tend to leave the rear window in the vent position as it works great with the moon roof slightly open.

You forget to close the rear window. So it rains at night and all is fine........ Until........ You pull away in the morning and flood the rear seat.

Buy the rear window visor and the problem is solved. Plus, people can't see that the rear window is vented and it helps with potential theft issue as it keeps honest people honest.

You can leave it parked with the rear window vented to help keep t from getting so hot inside while it is just sitting there baking in the sun.

The moonroof on my parents aviator has no leaks and works well. I love driving a car with a moonroof nothing like it on those hot sunny days. Wish my trac had 1 :( But the power sliding window is a cool substitute.

No water leaks on my 04. However, even with the glass fully closed, there is a lot of wind noise when the visor is pulled back. But it's been great on those days and nights when the sky is clear. Along with the one-touch open button, I wish Ford had incorporated a one-touch close feature (which I think the 07s will have).
