Anyone here tried swapping roof rails (i.e. black for silver, or silver for black)? I noticed they're not on the accessories list, the step bars are. Or are they considered a non-serviceable part - not removeable for whatever reason (roof leaks, headliner risk, etc)?

Danke, RJ

The rails are a servicable part. When I got my new 2007 Sport Trac Limited, I changed the sparkling silver rails to the chrome rails. However I had to buy them so I now have the sparkling silver rails in boxes. If you're interested in purchasing them let me know. They were taken off when the truck arrived at the dealership.

The dealership's after market guy had the chrome rails installed and there was no proble with the headliner and no roof leaks. It was performed last July.

Ford uses weather sealed, threaded pocket rivets. I took the rails off my '04 ST. Also took them off our '08 escape. I put flat headed body snaps in the holes. No leaks.

Flat headed body snaps? What are those, where do I get them, and how do they install? I'd love to remove my roof rails and cover the holes.
