I have a 2001 (early model) Sporttrac that the CEL just came on. It has a 174 (bank 2 lean) and a pending 171 (bank 1 lean). The Autozone clerk said this is an O2 sensor. Would this be correct? He also said there are 3 on the vehicle - 2 before Cat Con and 1 after. Is this also correct? They had one in stock but it looks like they all give the same part number so whick one would be the best one to change first given the codes? Thank you for any help anyone can give.

I believe we have 4 total (2 being pre-cats and 2 being cats) and do a search for DPFE and the Vaccum Elbow. Both pretty cheap and easy to fix.

Ok, if you have a Job 2 version of the 2001, then check here first.
And,,,, don't just look at it as the crack happens on the bottom of the hose. What happens is, this hose cracks and allows too much air into the system. Thus, your lean bank code.

did the sensors fix it?
I took mine to a shop had the same codes and slight hiccup during idle
still have the 170 and 174 codes
