Hello. Anyone have any experience with any of the Direct connect ipod adapters for the SPort Trac? I have a 2001, which should be the same through 2004 for the audio portion. I have the radio with the Comp/Shuffle buttons, so it sounds like there are a few manufacturers out there for direct connect ipod adapters. I just wanted to get anyones take if anyone has one installed. My main focus is that it is a direct connect and is able to be controlled through the radio.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

I have a 2004 with the Sat button and just bought what will hopefully work. (Comes in tommorrow) Here are two web pages that might help..

Simply--01 is not the same as 04. 04-05 utilizes the canbus protocol. For this, you need an adapter by, e.g., PAC that fools the radio into thinking the AUX or iPod input is SAT.

For 01, you utilize an AUX or iPod-in that functions through the "CD" button on the radio. To test if your radio will work, hit the CD and see if it said "NO CDDJ." If it does, you 'should' be good to go. If not, your 6CD changer may not handle an external changer (which is how the iPod unit fools the radio). For example, check out: (a) http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrdnpcpod.html and (b) http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrdnpcpod2.html. Note that these require your radio to be of the 815 series (check out the rear where the serial is).

Matt--if you purchased a P.I.E. FRD03-AUX/S (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrd03auxs.html) or a P.I.E. FRD03-POD/S (assuming you have the 6CD with SAT function radio) (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrd03pods.html), you will be fine. How do I know? I went through all of this, and I use the AUX/S to have a direct-in for my Garmin GPS. :)

I have an '01 with the audiophile radio with 6CD changer. I also have the premium console with radio controls accessible from the rear seat. I've purchased the AUX-POD from PAC. If you have the same set up as I do, make sure that you get the appropriate cable (PACABFRD20). Check out my library for a picture of this cable. What this cable does is piggy back off of your rear seat audio controls and allows you to control your ipods basic functions, such as; forward, back, fastfoward, etc. You still have full control thru your ipod when it connected. When you press the "CD" button on your radio it will toggle between your in-dash 6CD controls, and the control of the ipod. The ipod will continue to charge whenever the cable is attached. Hope this helps.[Broken External Image]:
