Just found this listing on line:

Mark Martin signed Roush Edition! Upgraded from the factory Limited Edition, this is a one of a kind Sport Trac! Roush hood scoop, racing stripes and a tuned exhaust give the look and sound of a real muscle car!

[Broken External Image]:

It's obviously some sort of dealer-installed package, as there were no actual "Roush Edition" Tracs ever made that I know of. Nonetheless, it looks pretty good. I've always wondered how a Roush-style scoop would look on either a Gen 1 or Gen 2 Trac, and I have to say it looks pretty good.

If I were in the market for a used Gen 2 Trac, I'd give this one a serious look. Low mileage, seems to be in good shape, and is loaded. Only drawback is that the dealer has it way overpriced at $27,988. Edmunds.com books it out at $23,937. No way the "Roush" package adds $4,000 to the value of the vehicle. A scoop, blue stripes, & Mark Martin's signature ain't worth that much.

I hate the fact that they are trying to pass it off as a "Roush Edition."

If I put a Roush sticker on my truck and got Mark Martin to sign my dashboard, it sure as hell wouldn't make it a "Roush Edition" Sport Trac. IMO it trivializes the Roush name and makes that dealership look like its run by a bunch of greasy, money grabbing jerks...

Dont get me wrong, I like the stripes and the cosmetic hood scoop looks cool (even if its NOT functional - which i assume it isn't). But simply slapping a Roush sticker on the windshield bastardizes the Roush name and the truck that sticker is on.

Quick question: Wouldn't Roush have to give its blessing for a vehicle to have the "Roush Edition" designation attached to it? Maybe I'm missing something here (whether or not Roush actually gave the 'go ahead' to this project) but it seems to me that this Roush Edition vehicle is substantially sub-par in comparison to the performance machines Roush normally puts its branding on.

I agree w/shaun t. If I were to buy this Trac, I'd remove both the Roush decal and Mark Martin signature. The signature means nothing to me, as I'm not a fan of NASCAR. And unless the seller can provide documentation proving the signature's authenticity, anyone could've scribbled that on the dash.

Otherwise, I think the stripes, scoop, and monochrome grille look good.

The dealership I work for used to be a franchised Roush Dealer. As far as I know, there were no Roush Edition ST's. Roush sold individual pieces so dealers or customers could purchase decals, scoops, other appearance/performance upgrades, and customize anything they wanted. We dressed up several vehicles with body kits and stickers and sold them as Roush package vehicles, but they were not given a unique Roush number and registered with Roush. Actual ROUSH vehicles that were upfitted with Stage1, Stage2, Stage3, etc packages could be verified by calling Roush and giving them the VIN. They should have a unique 6 digit Roush ID # if they are "real". In this case, we dont know if the original dealer added this, the selling dealer added this, or maybe the original owner/previous owner added this to the vehicle to customize it himself. Shelby Mustangs have went a little overboard with all the customization add-ons/bolt ons, and Shelby sigs on the glove box. Thats one example where you have to research the vehicle and its VIN to verify what it actually is. The customer that traded it in may have told the dealership that it is a Roush Edition, and the dealer may or may not have given him a little bit more trade value, but they are advertising it with the increased value that it is a Roush Edition. It may be a Roush Edition, but does not appear to be an "authentic" Roush. Just someones personal custom job.

Mark Martin has his own Ford dealerships in Arkansas, and I'll bet money that is a forged signature. Why would Mark sign a vehicle for a competiting dealership, especially on a fake Roush vehicle, that could get him in a lot of trouble not only with Roush but with Ford too. I'd guess there is lot of underhanded things going on here.:argue:

Regarding the "signature"...that would be tough to actually verify, it could be forged or actual. There are several ways that an actual sig could have been obtained. According to the VIN, this vehicle was sold at Bob Allen Ford in Overland Park KS. They are a very large dealership, one of the largest volume sales, service, and parts dealerships in the country. There may have been a promotional Nascar event held there where drivers meet and greet customers and sign various items..very common for dealers to hold these events. Our dealership, and many other local dealers hold these events, and occasionaly get the big name stars to attend. It would be unusual to get a driver like Mark Martin to come out, but if the dealer holding the event was a Roush dealer, then having Martin there would not be unusual, as he probably had some obligations to Roush to make appearances at certain events.

Could also stick on a hood scoop, and add an SVT badge to any ST. That doesn't make it so. I think this fake Roush is somewhat tasteless.
