Gauge repair

My apologies for hitting this old thread. I just replaced the stepper motor for fuel gauge in my 04 Trac the other day. I thinks it’s working fine since it started at just over a quarter tank and went to full after refill. After 60+ miles tho it’s still at full. Does anyone know if there is a calibration that needs to be performed?

Also I was wondering if anyone has found a different color cluster film? I was looking to go with blue instead of green. I’m going to replace the bulbs with led, but figured the green and blue would look purple. I ordered and changed the needles to blue from a GM.

My gas gauge read wrong b/c the pot on the fuel pump assembly was worn.
So I replaced the fuel pump and sender assembly and that fixed it.
Did the fuel pump while I was in there b/c the check valve was leaking down during no-run time.

Have you checked the sender unit? I had the same problem and just swapped out the entire fuel sender unit. Hanger, pump sender all the things on the hanger in the fuel tank. Took old one out put new one in, 90 bucks from 1a auto.

No I didn’t check the sender unit. When I did the gauge sweep test on the cluster the fuel needle bounced around or didn’t move at all. So I tried the stepper motor first. It seem to be working l, but now it’s doing the same thing so I’m going to replace the fuel pump and sending unit next. I can check the body grounds while I’m there.
But I was curious if anyone found a different film for the cluster.

Sorry, but I don't know anything about the cluster, b/c mine is working fine.

I haven't opened my cluster at all yet, gonna do it eventually to swap led bulbs in, check this video

I've seen another vid where so eine swapped the needles for blue chevy needles, and sanded the back of the whit cover removing the green tint, making it look super clean white and blue needles.
