Hello everyone,

Looking to replace the stock 255s for an AWD V8 Adrenalin and wondered if anyone else had done a larger tire on the stock 20X8 Wheel? I was thinking 275/40s would look just right as I think the 255s are a bit thin from behind. I'd love to reduce the fender gap as well but that probably must be done by lowering - I don't want any taller sidewalls.

After reading the article on the Coppertone Sport trac project - I like the way 22s filled the wheel wells, but again - I think that had more to do with lowering. I thought about a set of Factory Edge 22s as they are very similar in appearance to ours, but I don't think they end up being much wider nor address the fender gap.

Alas - back to 275s on the factory 20" wheel. Anyone already done this?

Thanks!

Hello, I've got 275/45-20 Toyo Proxes ST2 on aftermarket rims, 20x8.5 with no spacers. I would guess they would fit on your rims. Those are the right size to maintain the same rolling diameter as stock so your speedo wouldn't be off any. Several other members have done the same size tire on both Gen1 and Gen2 trucks. I'm sure they'll write in. Click on my library icon to see pictures. Bob

I don't think a 275 on an 8" rim is a problem, but if I have the correct information below, the 275/40 is wider, but shorter. If you go with what Bob C said, the height is about the same, but wider. If you go with a 275/50/20 (30.9" tall & 10.8" wide) you will get the slightly taller & wider tire you are looking for.

255/50/20s are 30.1" tall, 10" wide, stock (per another post),

275/45/20 are 29.8" tall, 10.8" wide, slightly shorter (.3), but wider (.8),

275/40/20 are 28.7" tall, 10.8" wide, you would be wider, but shorter,

275/50/20 are 30.9" tall, 10.8" wide, slightly taller & wider.

Go to the link below and plug in your information and you can see the differences in size and the effect on your speedometer.
