I got sick of my running boards chunking up with mud and slush etc. and pulled them off, now from the side view you can see a whole lotta frame hanging down. I can live with this but if there is a option out there I would be interested in how it looked.

Anyway, the question are, did any tracs not come with running boards in certain trim levels??, if so there should be a factory option for this, but Ive never seen any.

The regular explorers in xls trim , some had this trim instaed of running boards and it can be purchased, but Im sure it would be too short for the ST as our rear doors dont have the fender cut into them.

How it looks on the regular EX, apparently available for 06 and up as well.

I was hoping to find some plastic black honeycomb materials to put in there to hide the frame. Never found it though...

Did you think about some 16-18 gauge sheet steel? Cut it to length, put it in a break and create a narrow lip to go into the bottom of the sill panel, then make an angle to the frame and finally a lip to attach to the bottom side of the frame rails. Drill holes for pop rivets, use some kleeco's to hold it for a test fit. Take off, sand and primer, then paint the same color as the truck. Pop rivet it in place. If it has to come off, just drill the heads of the rivets! Bet it would look kinda sick(pretty good/different). Could do all this in an afternoon. Probably cost you a $100 bucks or less. JMO, Bob

I might end up fabbing up something myself, the ones on the explorer look pretty simple. The running bosrd bolts are still ther so I could hang someting fron them.....hmmmm
