That is incredible! Ford has their R&D working very well. Only wish this was something I could ever afford.

Neat car, however don't expect to be able to buy one, or even see one going dwn any American highway, or even the Autobahn in Germany for that matter? The fact that the equiped the race car with fenders and lights does not make the vehicle street legal.

It certainly is not highway legal in any US state and not legal in most European countries: 4 wheel vehicles require windshields, wipers, front and rear bumpers, mufflers,...and lets not forget pollution controls like catalytic converters, EGR and air bags if produced after 1992.

It does clearly demonstrate that a small displacement turbocharged engine in a very lightweight car can provide outstanding performance and exceptional gas mileage.

That looks basically like a Formula One car to me. That makes me less impressed than I was initially, to hear that this beat supercars with "traditional" bodies on a track. I'm still impressed, just for the record.

Earlier this year, a Ford Focus equipped with the 125 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost set 16 Federation Internationale de lAutomobile (FIA) speed world records at the CERAM test circuit in France.**

How modified was this Focus? Was it a Focus "in name only", like a "stock car" or like the heavily modified Ford Fiesta driven by Tanner Faust on Top Gear?

This car may be street legal, but I wouldn't take it on any public roads around me besides a few in downtown Baltimore...during the annual Grand Prix. :bwahaha:
