HP is a bit of data that is not really all that useful. Max engine HP is usually reached at or near max RPM. It's not unusual for the same engine to have different HP ratings when it's used in different vehicles. The higher HP rating is usually at a higher RPM. High HP is only good for going faster. What is more important is the max torque rating and it's RPM. Max torque usually occurs far below max RPM. Torque causes acceleration and provides towing power. For our Tracs, hight torque at a reasonable RPM, around 3000, is more important than WOT HP.

2001 2wd sport trac

Base Engine Type: V6 Horsepower: 205 hp

Max Horsepower: 5250 rpm Torque: 240 ft-lbs.

Max Torque: 3750 rpm Maximum Payload: 1260 lbs.

2007 2wd sport trac

Base Engine Type: V6 Horsepower: 210 hp

Max Horsepower: 5100 rpm Torque: 254 ft-lbs.

Max Torque: 3700 rpm Maximum Payload: 1450 lbs.

It seems to be more like 4000 rpms for ours vs the 3000 you quoted. Then again, that is 2001, the engine improved by 2003, which has the same hp as the 07 and the same torque as the 01 but at 3000 rpm for torque and 5200 for hp.
