4x4 want disengage

I was putting my 04 ST into 4x4 this morning since I have not done it in about 6 months and when I was switching back out of 4x4 low, it would not disengage. What could cause it to do this?

Stop, foot on brake, tranny in neutral. Then switch out of 4x4 low. If it doesn't click out let your foot off the brake and press it again. If that doesn't work back up 10 feet and see if that helps.

when I was getting ready to leave work the 4x4 low light was off and it was out of 4x4, maybe it was something wasjust stuck.
