My 4x4 on my 01 st would sometimes take a minute or two to engage. I replaced the switch and that seemed to work for a little while, now it will not engage at all, is there an easy way to test if it is the switch, transfer case, or what?

I will almost guarantee you it is the 4x4 module under the passenger side kick panel. I had the exact same thing. its about 175 or so from the dealer, I got mine for 50.00 from a wreckers off a trac that had ony 7,000 miles on it. Works great.

Try testing the motor first, to do this you have to have some one in the truck and some one under it, hit the 4wd switch and have some one with a rubber mallet tap the motor on the t-case, if it engages it is more than likely the motor, If not, then it is the moduel...

I do hear clicking sounds under the dash on the passenger side. Does this also indicate that it is the module?
