while at the dealership i asked for a estimate to change out the valve body.

they quoted me 1400 and that include part, labor cost, oil, supplies, etc.

and with warranty.

i am looking at the valve body for 180 on ebay. they quoted me 200 labor plus supplies etc at 150 i think. with no warranty.

so 1400 or about 600. what am i better off with. i dont have deep pockets by the way

Check with a good independent trans shop. Some on this site got it for $650 with a 6month warranty.

check with central valve bodies they have a warranty and make a good product with the correct updates. I did mine myself, messy but not to hard only special tool you need is a inch pound torque wrench. Total cost for me was around 320.00 that includes new filter and fluid.

im still trying to think whats best. im not too comfortable with going to them independent tranny shops.

due to lack of money and urgency to do this asap i might just order it off ebay and take it to ford.

ART, I have gotten just as good if not better service from independet shops. Cheaper too. I do my research on references, BBB, how long they been in bussines, etc.
