especially when you have 70K on your van. Just found out the bottom end of my motor is going out to pasture. Massive knocking at the 2500 rpm range, especiall when the oil is hot. Ford says t is not under warranty,,, sorry... got 4k+ to fix it....:angry::angry::angry:

Time to drive is slowly onto a Chevy lot and get a GM van.

This just blows my mind. That van was nothing but trouble. My uncle has many Ford Van's with over 200,000 miles of abuse.

Sorry to hear. You gotta do what is best for you!

Tom

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. I put 188K on my 05 4.6L (4.10) and have 138K on my current 08 5.4L (3.73) E250's. Absolutely no problems with either. My 08 hasn't had a single thing done to it except front pads (warranty 4 times for breaking anti-rattle clips) tires and oil changes @ 5K intervals. It will puff smoke on start-up occasionally if it sits 4-5 days. The forms are at the office now to order my 2011, going back to the 4.6L/4.10's, 3-4 mpg better and just as much power. Should get it at the end of Oct.

Any chance of talking to a district rep? With service records. IMO, 70K bottom end loss dont happen nowdays. I would think it to be an assy foul-up. Or a machining tolerance error. or due to ford doesnt use true oil pressure gauges. Oil pressure failure. Did they say, rods or mains failing?

agree w/ eddie.

sorry to hear the bad news.

i have had and still do E-150's in my fleet. they have been always very reliable and trouble free. imo, they are the best regular size cargo van out there.

hope you can get the problem resolved.

My neighbor has an E-150 that he uses for his delivery business. He delivers pallets of printing material and is constantly loaded to the max - I mean CONSTANTLY! He has just over 260K on it and you'd NEVER believe it. The engine runs like new. The truck is a work horse. He puts any where from 300 to 500 miles per day and at this time, the only things that are not working is the A/C and a small annoying leak between the engine and the tranny.

This guy is meticulous with maintenance. Oil change EVERY 3k miles, Tires rotated regularly, brakes changed when needed, EVERYTHING by the book.

He knows he has to get a new truck sooner or later but hates to part with this one. He just can't see paying 30K for a new one.

Sounds like you should definitely take it up the ladder. So sorry to hear about your troubles.

LaRue, sorry to hear the bad news. You have me wondering about mine. I believe we have the same year, 08, right? Is it a 150 or 250? I'll be diligent with my oil changes.

Yea Gary,,, mine is a E150.. produced Dec 07, bought 28ish January 08. I just turned 70K and 95% is highway miles. I have changed the oil every 4K without fail. Now go figure,,,, it hasn' done the "knocking" thing in 2 days..... But they have only been short runs to town and back. :banghead:

LaRue, I have had 2 knocking noises in my past. They werent motor internal. One was a loose torque convertor. The other a loose crank pully. Maybe a miss diagnoses.

larue,

you are having a premature issue.

E-150'S are strong /good vans. imo, the best.

it could happen to ANY mfg.

i would bust on ford's nuts to have it covered under wrnty.

good luck
