Ford's Willow Run plant was buliding Liberator bombers in June 1941, 6 months before Pearl Harbour. The factory and the aircraft were miracles of production as they ran off the assembly line at a rate of one every 55 minutes. The video is 7 minutes long but very interesting.

The history channel runs a 1-2 minute spot on this in lieu of commercials on The Military History Channel now. Always interesting.



Apparently they were slacking in production due to lack of labor & difficulty adapting the moving assembly line to aircraft, but Ford pulling in labor from the still largely jobless South and the Government mandating that the plant hire 15,000 women workers fixed that.
