AC questions

Seems as though my AC is turning on no matter what setting I have it on. AC, Max AC, floor, vents and floor, def, def and floor. Any ideas?

perfectly normal... only setting w/o AC in the vent (1 notch left of off) and Off... in winter below a certain temp, the AC is disabled for all settings.

thanks for the reply. it seems as though the vent only also blows AC. Every setting blows AC, so long as I have the temp dial anywhere from 10 o'clock to 7 o'clock. I just want the outside air, is that too much to ask for?<feigned drama>

On a system that has manual ac the only settings that should engeage the compressor are ac, max ac and defrost. Are you having more of an issue with the temperature control???

On the ST thats not the case........ what ST said is correct.... Its weird and took us all a time to figure out but thats the case..

on my '01 ST the compressor ran in every setting except Off, Vent or Floor.

I wonder wny Ford did this on a non automatic climate controlled vehicle. The only reason I can figure out is that the ac system will probably last longer if it is used on a regular basis.
