ADD the KKM MAF/Filter kit and a custom made heat shield and this is what you will have:

From what I've read here, the stock box is so efficient that an after-market intake produces very little improvement.

I just spent 500 miles with my new K&N Cai along with a Torrie tuned SCT tuner, and I can difinitely tell the difference with the power and gas mileage.

+1 (Iceman & Les)

The only reason to go with the cone-style filter is for a "performance look."

With the OEM intake design, the air travels a very short distance from behind the grill and into the box. Cut the baffle out of the airbox, (optional - remove the plastic deflector from behind the grill) & replace everything from the MAF up to (or including) the throttle body.

All of the OEM crap between the box & TB are just that . . . crap.

I don't recall exactly, but I believe the parts all cost less than $50 and took 5-10 min to install.

WIth my setup I went with a larger MAF, so that is why I added the Cone filter.

Otherwise yes, I agree with what Kevin said.....Stick with the stock airbox and change teh "tube".

NOW if we could just ever get GREEN FILTERS to make a drop -in filter this would be the PERFECT combo!

Iceman where did you get the Sport Trac decals? And I installed the KKM CAI but it didn't come with the hose so what else do I need and where can I get the rest to finish the install?

I'm about to reproduce one of these intake setups, but I was thrown off by the plumbers "T". A little guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
