Hello folks. I recently upgraded my audio system with Alpine Type-S components up front, Type-S coaxials in the rear, and a RFosgate P2 8" sub in a JDBox. These are run by one Alpine 4-channel amp and one Alpine mono amp. I'm now also using an 04/05 Adrenalin headunit I purchased from fellow member "MB".

Compared to the Audiophile system I replaced, I can definitely crank the volume up without distortion. The speakers give a crisper high and the sub hits hard and pretty loud. The sound is cleaner for the most part but I do have a lot of tuning to do. Since my OEM headunit does not have one, I have been advised to invest in an equalizer to fine-tune the sounds.

So, my questions are:

1. What is a good equalizer that will work with an OEM headunit? I've been looking at the Kicker KQ9.

2. Where could I find a wiring diagram similar to my system including the equalizer?

On another note, I have one amp under the 40 side seat and the other behind the rear panel, next to the sub enclosure. Problem here is, the installer had to remove the factory jack kit and the panel door to accomodate the amp behind there. I need ideas so that I can keep the rear panel intact, reinstall the jack kit, and reinstall the panel door (with its pocket compartment still intact). I keep the 60 side folded down so nothing can be under it and the compartment door installed to conceal parts.

Thanks in advance folks! Now that the pros have done the hard part, I'm looking forward to doing the rest on my own. Never done it before, so I need all the help I can get!

You can recess the amps into the backs of the seats. It takes alot of work but it looks cool and keeps the stuff out of the way. As for an EQ you should get enough adjusment out of your head unit and amps. But if you want to take up certain parts of the freq's any will work just get a passive EQ the ones with built in amps just tear up your sound more than they help.

(I used to do custom car systems now I do custom cop car systems.)

Thanks James. I saw the project on the recessed amps in the seatbacks, but the 60 side of the rear bench will definitely be folded down and I don't want anything exposed. The 40 side may be doable but it's more involved than I am comfortable with.

I agree with James. You should be able to tune enough between the bass/treble and fade fr/rear to get a good sound. I haven't put an eq in an auto since, well it's been over a decade.
