Yesterday, it looked like it might come here to Tallahassee. Now, it looks like it's going after the rest of my family in Broward & Palm Beach.

Hopefully, Ernesto will be a mild one.

Fingers crossed.

It's official: Hurricane prediction and coverage is now info-tainment, packaged as drama designed to rivet you to your TV. Be prepared for wall-to-wall storm discussions four or five months a year, every year, framed in a dire overtone of how we are destroying the planet.

The media and our politicians are desperate for our attention, 365 days a year. This stuff has gotten out of hand. Turn off the news and go about living your life.

i have to agree with you 100%.

one of the worst inventions was 24 hours news networks

and the weather channel.

i admit i used to be like that but since my wife was diagnosed

with cancer 4 years ago ( doing good now thank god) i take it

one day at a time, live life as it comes because you cant control it.

oh great !. i just had my house built in hernando of citrus county. hopefully it will pass and weaken. now i know why i pay 2k a year for home-owners insurance.

Yeah. The same bs happens when it snows in maryland. People go bezerk. Spun up by the media.

Me? I get all excited when it snows myself, not for fear of death and dismemberment, but so that I can go find a empty parking lot and do donuts all day long.

I pay close to $4K for a 1400 sq. ft., 20 year old house in Charlotte County.

mptony, im not living in the house yet :(

hopefull soon i will be in the sunshine state !

sst, thanks i am covered and the area is not in a flood zone

Not quite so easy for some there Rich.

I choose to live where I live, and could easily, easily find employment in any of the 50 states.

:cool:It's the price we pay to live in vacationland, and I'm not complaining.

PS Robert, Flood Ins is mandatory in SFla if you have a mortgage. $300/year.

Godspeed to all of you in South Florida,,,,,,,,,I just moved from the Texas coast,,,,,,,for some of the reasons listed above. Getting prepared is the most important thing to concentrate on now, as you know,,,,,,,,,,we'll be watching.

Thanks for all the well wishes....:)

I don't want to put a jinx on, but hopefully this one looks like a baby compared to last year.

Anyway, people down here are taking precautions heeding lessons learned from Wilma.

Gas lines are way long and some stations are already out, water is going out the food stores very fast, and, both my *Honda* gens are good to go.

Hopefully my DSL will stay up this time as so I can have something to do on Wednesday:lol:

lighthouse point???? Ft LAuderdale area? i was down there last year with the national guard handing out ive and water in the church parking lot.

When I lived in the Panhandle, me and my buddies had a saying: "If Jim Cantore shows up in your hometown, you know you're f*%#ed!"

He showed up near my town at least three times...
