I have had this Alpine CDA-7892 Head Unit for 3 years now. I haven't used it in 2 years. I went to hook it up today cause I planned on selling it but there's no sound coming out. I know the speakers/wires and all connections are good because I also hooked up the other three Head Units to my show truck and all work. Not sure what the hell is wrong with it. Any help would be great. Thanks

Its possible that you have the on board amp switched off. When you have it installed earlier did you use an external amp?

No, no externernal amps just the speker wires for the front doors. I tried both front and rear wires from the H.U.. I did see on the instruction manual something about the interrupt feature, and a bunch of other stuff that could be causing this problem. I'll figure it out when I have some spare time, like I said it's an extra head Unit that I have laying around and don't need right this minute.

My guess is you have a setting somewhere that is muting the sound from the H.U. I have rewired my whole system before because of this only to find out that I had the internal amp switched off. Talk about frustrating. One time I spent two days doing a whole system install in a friends jeep. After I got it all done we tried to crank it and not a single electronic thing worked, wouldn't start or anything. After freaking out for a while we found out that you have to put the key in the drivers door and lock and unlock it manual a certain number of times and it will reset the system. Everything worked perfectly after that.
