I recently found out about the free streaming movies on Amazon Prime. It's raining, I'm off work and my wife is working all day. I'm going to be watching John Wayne all day!

Also, all the Bond movies are on Prime for the month of August!

Hugh,

What receiver are you using for the Amazon Prime streaming movies? I have a Roku Box that has an Amazon channel on it, but I thought it was a pay site like NetFlix. I have a NetFlix account for streaming movies but not an Amazon account.

Just a spare laptop connected to the TV. With Prime membership, they have a selection of movies and tv shows you can stream for free. There are also some videos that you can rent. Rentals are cheaper than the local video store. I'm conflicted on using it for the paid rentals.

Sure do. It's a privately owned business, not one of the chains. They have a good selection of the new releases but are hard to pick over for the good classics. I do still enjoy the task of walking around with my wife and trying to find something good to watch.

I also like the instant satisfaction of clicking on a movie on Amazon and it starts playing instantly. No scratched DVDs, no previews, no driving, no explaining to the clerk that I have no idea what my ID number is, I do not have my ID card and that my name is much easier for me to keep up with. I also enjoy not having $18 in late fees every time I show up to rent something else every few months.

I think the nostalgia of walking around the video store may not be enough to keep me going back. Of course, I thought the same thing when I started using Netflix. I quit using Netflix long ago for many unnamed reasons. I'll just say Amazon is doing it how I expected Netflix to work. No subscription fee is nice, too. I pay for Prime membership for shipping regardless.

I can't say that I've streamed much from my Prime account. I used to use netflix all the time but canceled it. The reason I was using Netflix and not Amazon is because Netflix worked on all major Android devices but Prime still does not.
